Our family came from Italy. In 1919, Nunu (Grand-ma) and Nuno (Grand-pa) Donzelli came from Sicily by boat thru Ellis Island seeking a new life. They found their way to Ohio for jobs in manufacturing. Their son “Sam” (our Dad) was born in Akron, Ohio, where after serving in the Korean War, he worked nights to support our family. In 1953, He and Mom “Bonnie” opened a small florist shop which thru their hard work-thrived and grew.
In 1965, Mom and Dad partnered with Clevelander, William Gale and together they opened Gale’s Westlake Garden Center on the current site.
Today, we, Julie Donzelli DiFeo and Pam Donzelli, are taking care of the family business. Our goal is to create a one of a kind, special garden center, that pays tribute to our family history. We strive to offer our customers’ the very best products and plants, and our staff the very best place to work. We want to be a place our community is proud of and a fun place for them to shop. Our goal is constant improvement in our selections, services, and shopping experiences. We have many plans to make Gale’s Westlake even better! Just watch us!
