Folks automatically assume that you can plant grass anytime….but in reality there are optimal times to plant. Spring is one of those times! Shoot for early spring and make sure that you have an average daily temp of 60-75. Be cautious about the use of crabgrass preventer as it could also prevent grass from germinating. A few recommendations are Bluegrass, fescue and rye as they differ in germinations times. Make sure the soil temp is above 50 and that there is ample moisture. Moderate spring weather helps grass seed flourish. Of course lots of warm, spring sunshine helps.
